I’m happy to talk to people about working on projects together and I always enjoy collaborating with others on something creative.

Here’s a brief(ish) rundown of my skill set:

• I am a print journalist by background and I’ve also edited a number of publications. My expertise is online journalism, but I have done print, radio (traditional and podcasting) and video too. I am story-driven. I can write, edit and commission stories.

• I’ve run my own online media company that was Australia’s first citizen-driven media site. It was honored with a Webby for innovation in journalism. This is my passion and I am invited to talk on the subject both nationally and internationally. I want journalism to survive. I can innovate in media, am on top of online media trends, can initiate and drive ideas in a lean and agile way and know how to build traction and assess success.

• I have worked as a communications consultant specializing in social media with clients such as Blurb, Palm Beach Pictures, Australian Arts Council and Smartline Mortgage Brokers. I can write a social media strategy, train staff how to implement it, commission and manage the production of online videos (I did this for Palm Beach Pictures) and reach out to bloggers and influencers.

• I have worked at Pollenizer, Australia’s most-established start-up incubator. I worked in customer development and business ideation and saw the three companies I worked on all take funding, once validated. I know start-ups! I can help initiate ideas and validate them, run scrum teams, manage product, analyse metrics, report on metrics, iterate, build communications strategies, deal with key stake-holders, help with capital raising and lead a team collaboratively.

• I have sat on various boards including the Public Interest Journalism Foundation. I like to contribute back to the community and I believe the work I do with PIJF on a voluntary basis, as well as other boards, goes some way in doing that. I can represent an organisation in a professional capacity, advise on best practices online, implement committee decisions and make a meaningful contribution to the organisations I am part of.

• I have built communities. I was part of the original group of friends that established Silicon Beach – an online tech community across Australia. In my work I have gone on to build many others. I can build a community from scratch, engage and interest them, reach out to them and listen.
